You book a class, not a numberplate. When you reserve a Mini or an SUV, the supplier gives you that car or a close equivalent, so treat the makes below as a guide to what each class looks like rather than a promise of one specific model. We have grouped them by the kind of trip they suit, which is the question most people are actually asking.

Which car for which trip
For the city: mini and economy
If you are mostly pottering around Tirana, a small car is the sensible pick. The central blocks near Skanderbeg Square and the Blloku district are tight, and street parking is scarce, so a car you can thread into a small gap pays off daily.
For longer drives and luggage: estate and sedan
Touring further afield, to Berat, Gjirokaster or up to Shkoder, you want a real boot and a comfortable cruise. An estate swallows a week of bags; the automatic sedan is the one we reach for on long inland legs where you would rather not be shifting gear constantly.
For the coast and long southern drives: compact SUV and SUV
The Riviera south of Vlore and the climb over the sealed Llogara pass reward a higher, comfier ride. A compact SUV handles the coast easily; a full SUV or seven-seater is the call when you want more space and comfort for a family and a week of luggage. Hire cars stay on paved public roads, so this is about comfort and space, not going off-road.
For families and groups: 7-seat SUV and MPV
Travelling six or seven? Two cars below seat seven. The SUV gives you ground clearance for the coast; the MPV drives more like a big car and is the roomier choice for an airport run with a stack of cases.

Not always. The cars below are examples of what Albanian suppliers list, grouped by class. You book a class (Mini, Economy, SUV and so on), and the supplier provides that car or a similar one. The make and model shown is representative of what each class looks like in the live feed.
Why do the prices differ from what I see on the search page?
The day rates on each card are honest examples we have seen in the live feed, not a fixed quote. Real prices move with season, length of hire and how far ahead you book. The search step shows the live price for your exact dates, which is the number that counts.
Which car should I pick for the Albanian Riviera?
For the coast road and the Llogara pass south of Vlore, we lean toward a compact SUV or full SUV. The extra ride height and comfort help on the steep, tightly switchbacked but sealed coastal roads near Himare, and an automatic makes the switchbacks less tiring.
Is a small car enough for getting around Tirana?
Yes. Tirana's central blocks are tight and parking is at a premium, so a Mini or Economy car is the easy choice for the capital. You only really need something bigger once you start loading luggage or heading out to the coast and the mountains.
Can seven of us fit in one car?
Two of the cars below seat seven: a 7-seat SUV and a 7-seat MPV. Bear in mind that with seven people aboard the boot shrinks, so for a family heading south with luggage you may still want two cars or a roof box. Both seven-seaters are automatic.
Are most of these cars automatic or manual?
It is a mix. Smaller city and estate cars are usually manual, while the SUVs and the seven-seaters tend to be automatic. Automatics are fewer overall in Albania and sell out first in July and August, so book early if the gearbox matters to you.
